Dr. Zweibel has been a partner of North Shore Eye Care for the past 25 years. He is a clinical instructor at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and served as Chief of Ophthalmology at St. Catherine of Sienna Hospital in Smithtown.

Dr. Paul Choinski has over 20 years of medical and surgical experience in private practice in Eastern Long Island. He practices general ophthalmology with an emphasis on cataract surgery, refractive surgery and treatment of glaucoma.

Dr. Jeffrey Martin was born and raised in Smithtown, New York. He earned a biology degree summa cum laude from Muhlenberg College and was elected Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to receive his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. He currently serves as Chief of Ophthalmology at St. Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown.

Dr. David Immanuel is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and fellowship trained as a cornea specialist. His office is located on Hilton Avenue in Hempstead bordering Garden City (less than a mile south of the Garden City Hotel) where he has been in private practice for approximately 10 years.

Dr. Buono was born in the Bronx and was raised in Yonkers. He completed his undergraduate degree at New York University (NYU) with a major in Philosophy and a minor in both Biology and Chemistry. He then moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he completed his medical degree at Thomas Jefferson Medical College.

Previously a pharmacist, Dr. Mauro earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from St. John’s University, Queens, NY. He then completed his medical school training at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Philadelphia, PA.

A Brooklyn native who attended Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan, Dr. Gold has been in private practice since 1988. He has served as a clinical instructor for residency programs, receiving numerous Teacher of the Year Awards. In order to provide the most complete care, Dr. Gold often communicates with our patients’ primary care physicians.

Dr. Sforza graduated with honors from Harvard College, then went on to Columbia University. After receiving subspecialty training in corneal and refractive surgery, he went on to become the chief of Corneal Surgery at SUNY-Downstate Medical School from 1998-2000. He was also named “Attending of the Year" in 2006 by residents.

Dr. Richter was educated at Cornell University and the New York School of Medicine. He trained residents at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he was an attending physician. Today, Dr. Richter uses leading-edge diagnostic and treatment methods with an emphasis on glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease.

Dr. Ellant is board-certified and fellowship-trained in refractive surgery, as well as the treatment of cataracts and corneal conditions. He received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston.

William S. Kasper, M.D., F.A.C.S., is the Emeritus Acting Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology of Winthrop-University Hospital, Mineola, N.Y., a position that he held for 15 years. He has been listed in the prestigious Castle and Connolly publication, "How to Find the Best Doctors: New York Metro Area," for the last 16 years, an honor bestowed by patients and colleagues.

Dr. Stephen Greenberg is a board certified ophthalmologist with 40 years of ophthalmology experience in Deer Park and Holbrook. He is a graduate of The City College of New York and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After completing his internship at Montefiore Hospital, he served as a physician for two years in the

Dr. Grace O’Malley is a board-certified general ophthalmologist who treats cataracts, glaucoma, and external diseases of the eye. She also performs eyelid surgery, including the cosmetic procedures of blepharoplasty and Botox. She has over 25 years of medical and surgical experience in private practice.

Dr. Bainnson is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in Glaucoma and General ophthalmology and has been in practice since 1994. Prior to joining North Shore Eye Care Dr Bainnson practiced in West Islip, NY.

Dr. Buono is a board-certified ophthalmologist with expertise in treatment and diagnosis of all medical disorders of the eye, including dry eye, glaucoma, allergic and herpetic eye diseases, eyelid problems, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease. She performs eyelid procedures and laser surgery for glaucoma and after cataract surgery.

Dr. Faye Knoll is North Shore Eye Care’s cornea and external disease specialist. As an undergraduate, she attended SUNY Binghamton where she majored in Biology and minored in Spanish. At Binghamton she was elected into the Phi Beta Kappa Society and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Following the completion of her B.A., Dr. Knoll attended

Dr. Baharestani is an Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeon certified by The American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American Society for Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), and a Member of The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).

Dr. Liebert is a board certified Pediatric Ophthalmologist and Strabismus surgeon who has been practicing on Long Island for the past twelve years. Specializing in Strabismus surgery, Amblyopia treatment, Retinopathy of Prematurity, Pediatric Plastics and all aspects of Pediatric care; Dr. Liebert is excited to join North Shore Eye Care’s impressive team.

Dr. Van Valkenburg joined North Shore Eye Care in 2015, bringing over twenty years of clinical, educational and surgical experience. Raised in the midwest, she graduated from the University of Minnesota and immediately headed to New York to pursue graduate studies. She received a Masters of Science degree from New York University and completed additional pre-medical studies at Columbia University.

Prior to joining our practice, Dr. Savetsky practiced in Los Angeles. He has been involved in several studies and clinical trials for new treatments and medications for eye diseases. In order to provide the best possible therapy, Dr. Savetsky strives to stay up-to-date on the latest technology.

Throughout his education, which includes graduating from St. John’s University as Summa Cum Laude, Dr. Giamos has worked on research for several ophthalmic studies. He remains committed to continuing education by participating in national and international conferences. Dr. Giamos is a member of the AAO, ASCRS, and the Hellenic Medical Society of New York.

A fellowship-trained cornea and refractive surgery specialist, Dr. Kligman was born and raised on Long Island. Dr. Kligman trained at the world-renowned Cole Eye Institute of Cleveland Clinic where he studied advanced cornea transplant techniques and refractive surgery technology. He has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles, textbook chapters, and abstracts.

Albert Marcantonio, O.D. is a North Babylon High School Graduate of 1979. In 1983 he graduated from Sullivan County Community College with a Major in Hotel Management and Minor in Culinary Arts. Albert was accepted into Stony Brook University (S.U.N.Y), and Graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology along with the necessary prerequisites for his future endeavors.

A board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist, Dr. Shoshani specializes in the treatment of strabismus (crossed eyes) for children and also adults. She takes care of many children with special needs and strives to forge long-term relationships with all of her patients.

Dr. Theresa Dempsey, Au.D., is a New York State Licensed Audiologist. She has practiced audiology in clinical settings for 10 years and is particularly interested in aural rehabilitation and counseling of the hearing impaired and their families.

Gerri Competiello has trained at prestigious institutions with both world renowned Otolaryngologists and Audiologists at The Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, and The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. She has also worked as an clinical trainer for one of the leading hearing aid manufacturers, giving her tremendous insight to the latest approaches in hearing amplficaition.

Deborah LaBel has extensive experience working with hearing impaired children and adults and guiding their families through the entire rehabilitation process. She has participated in numerous research protocols examining the benefits of early amplification in children and the benefits of cochlear implants in all populations.

Amy Cavallo M.A., CCC-A is a NY State licensed audiologist. She has extensive clinical experience in providing audiological services and research for adult, geriatric, pediatric, and special needs populations.
