DR. ZWEIBEL: A cataract is a clouding of the lens within the eye. Actually the eye has two lenses. The primary lens of the eye is the cornea but there's a second lens which is within the eye and that's called a crystalline lens. When that lens becomes cloudy we call it a cataract. The symptoms of cataract are simply blurred vision, or maybe foggy vision. Usually some of the first things the patients notice are difficulty driving at night, as well as reading.
