DR. JEFFREY MARTIN: My father is a very special man. What I heard growing up everywhere I went in Smithtown where I was born and raised, in the same town in which we still practice, was what a warm, compassionate man my father was. Always in a good mood. Always with a kind tone. He really did his best for his patients his entire career.
DR. SIDNEY MARTIN: I started North Shore Eye Care in 1963, approximately 40 years ago. At that time there were only a handful of doctors in Smithtown. Most of the doctors were general practitioners and there were very few specialists. The general practitioners delivered babies, they did surgery. Fortunately, they were afraid to touch the eyes, so my practice grew rapidly.
DR. JEFFREY MARTIN: I've heard stories of him coming in, in his slippers to see a patient at 3 o'clock in the morning. And his patients tell me that. Some of his patients are now my patients. And they always ask, "How is your dad? How is doing? Is he still practicing? And of course he is.
