DR. JEFFREY MARTIN: My dad started our practice in 1960. When he started it, it was him and my mother and that was the entire practice. They practiced out of their house because there were no office buildings here in Smithtown. I remember as a child coming to my father's office on my bicycle and spending time with his staff and I would relax for a little while and say hello.

We've grown quite a bit since then and now our practice is much larger, but we still maintain that family atmosphere. My father is still practicing part time at 79 years of age and we're all proud of him for that.

DR. SIDNEY MARTIN: When we started our practices, there was sort of a family feeling among the medical community, among the patients; everybody was sort of regarded as a family or a friend. Even though our practices have increased, I hope that that feeling of family, of friendship has remained with North Shore Eye Care.
