For patients who have worn glasses or contacts for most of their lives, we are happy to offer the ReZoom™ intraocular lens ( IOL) at our Smithtown-area surgery center on Long Island. The procedure has an impressive success rate, with approximately 92 percent of patients participating in clinical studies reporting that they either "never" or "only occasionally" require glasses afterwards.
The ReZoom™ lens itself is a permanent artificial lens made of a soft plastic material that can be folded and inserted into the eye by way of a tiny incision. Once inside the eye, the ReZoom™ lens gently unfolds and settles into position. The ReZoom™ intraocular lens ( IOL) procedure is performed on an outpatient basis at our Smithtown-area surgery center on Long Island and usually takes a few minutes to complete.
The ReZoom™ patented lens design creates multiple focal points to provide vastly improved close-up, intermediate, and distance vision all at the same time. For example, if you need to read a map while driving a car, your new eyesight will be versatile enough that you can look at the map, watch the road, and observe upcoming road signs without adjusting your perspective.
Though the ReZoom™ lens was initially approved for cataract surgery patients, it is now available to anyone who has a normal eye exam and would like to lift the burden of wearing glasses or contact lenses nonstop. In addition, you might be a candidate for the ReZoom™ IOL if you are suffering from any of the following vision problems.
As is the case with all multifocal IOLs, patients should know that there are advantages and disadvantages to the ReZoom™ lens procedure. A thorough examination at our Smithtown office in Long Island is necessary to help determine which version of the procedure is best suited for your eyes and lifestyle.
Our Long Island surgery center near Smithtown takes certain precautions following lens replacement surgery. Immediately after the surgery, we'll ask you to rest for a bit before going home. We'll give you an eye drop prescription that will guard against infection and facilitate healing. Many of the ReZoom™ IOL patients who receive lens implants at our Long Island center report that they are able to return to their regular routine within a day of the procedure.
Questions about the multifocal technology of the ReZoom™ IOL? The skilled Smithtown surgeons at North Shore Eye Care will help you decide if the ReZoom™ lens is right for you. Contact our Long Island office for a consultation.260 Middle Country Rd., Suite 201
