National Crystalens Center of Excellence
The board certified cataract surgeons at North Shore Eye Care in Long Island New York are thrilled that our practice has been named a National Crystalens Center of Excellence. Dr. Sidney Martin, Dr. Larry Zweibel, Dr. Jeffrey Martin and Dr. John Mauro all work hard to be at the forefront of technology and technique in cataract surgery. Our eye surgeons perform cataract surgery through a microscopic incision using eye drops for anesthesia. There are no eye patches, no stitches and no needles around the eyes in most cases. Cataract surgery takes a few minutes and our patients return to the comfort of their home the very same day.
When our board certified eye doctors perform cataract surgery on our Suffolk and Nassau county patients, we replace the cloudy or defective lens of the eye with an intraocular lens or IOL. The new implant lens can be of the standard variety or a premium lens. The standard lens allows patients to see far, but they need glasses for near work. With the accommodating lens, Crystalens, the lens moves in the eye slightly by the natural focusing mechanism of the eye. With this movement, the eye is able to focus far and near like the natural lens did before a cataract developed.
Our eye surgeons have vast experience with cataract surgery and the use of premium implants like Crystalens. Bausch and Lomb recently contacted our practice with the news that North Shore Eye Care had been elected a National Crystalens Center of Excellence. We are proud of this recognition and we are sure that our patients will continue to benefit from our commitment to excellence in eye care, cataract surgery and lasik laser vision correction.
Please call our Smithtown Long Island New York office for an eye care appointment to find out if you are a good candidate for lasik laser eye surgery or Crystalens cataract surgery.
