Nesconset is a hamlet located on Suffolk Countys North Shore within the Town of Smithtown. It was expanded in the early 1970s to include a portion of what was Lake Ronkonkoma. The area includes land from Gibbs Pond Road east to School House Road and from Brown's road south to Smithtown Blvd.
Recreational areas include Andreoli Park on Gibbs Pond Road, which has a freshwater pond, playground and ball courts. Sprofera Park on Browns Road and Route 347 offers a playground, roller hockey rink and ball fields. Nesconset was included by CNNmoney.com as Top 100 Best Places to Live in 2007.
NSEC serves the residences of Nesconset with a variety of concerns. One of the most common is Cataracts, the clouding of the natural lens of the eye. People who suffer from cataracts often experience a blurring or dimming of vision, which can dramatically affect quality of life.
Cataracts can also cause glare, loss of depth perception, halos around lights at night, and difficulty reading or driving. In severe cases, cataracts may cause pain, redness, discomfort, and even blindness. They often occur in older adults, although they can affect the vision of anyone, at any age. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms of cataracts, you should contact NSEC immediately for a comprehensive eye care consultation.
North Shore Care is committed to providing continuing education opportunities for Optometrists. For more information, please see our previous symposia or a list of upcoming events.
