Fort Salonga is a Hamlet located on Suffolk Countys North Shore within the Town of Smithtown. The name evolved from the Revolutionary War British Fort Salonga, or Fort Slongo, (named after one of the forts architects) once located near the border of Huntington Township and The Town of Smithtown, overlooking the Long Island Sound.
Ensconced in rural surroundings, Fort Salonga is a quiet community offering North Shore beaches, golf courses, horse stables and a state park.
North Shore Eye Care serves the residents of Fort Salonga with a variety of concerns including Glaucoma. Glaucoma is an eye condition that describes a process of optic nerve damage caused by high pressure in the eye. There are three things that generally happen. The pressure in the eye becomes high, the optic nerve becomes damaged and the peripheral vision becomes compromised. There are two general types of glaucoma, open angle and closed angle.
North Shore Care is committed to providing continuing education opportunities for Optometrists. For more information, please see our previous symposia or a list of upcoming events.
