The board certified lasik surgeons at North Shore Eye Care in Smithtown and Riverhead New York have been leaders in laser vision correction for years. Our eye surgeons, Dr. Jeffrey Martin, Dr. Larry Zweibel and Dr. John Mauro, perform the very best lasik procedures available in the world. We do bladeless custom lasik in every case possible to optimize laser eye surgery outcomes. Intralase, a blade-free laser makes the superficial flap as the first step of lasik. We then use Visx Customvue with iris registration for vision correction. With Customvue, a wavescan is performed to get a custom wavemap or waveprint of your unique visual system. This is similar to a fingerprint of your vision. This information is used for vision correction utilizing automatic tracking and automatic centering as well as iris registration. Iris registration describes the way that the laser uses each patient's iris landmarks to exactly place the correction where it belongs.
In cataract surgery, the cloudy or defective natural lens of the eye is removed using gentle ultrasound called phacoemulsification. A new intraocular implant lens (IOL) is then placed to restore vision. At times, there can still be a slight refractive error making eyeglass wear necessary for clear vision. Many patients do not mind wearing glasses, but some prefer to be free of glasses and contact lenses. At North Shore Eye Care, we often see patients after cataract surgery that would like to correct the remaining nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism left behind. In those cases, our lasik surgeons can correct that refractive error leaving patients with clear vision.
If you have had cataract surgery and do not see as clearly as expected, feel free to contact the lasik specialists at North Shore Eye Care in Long Island New York for a free lasik evaluation.
