LASIK surgery and Astigmatism

LASIK or Laser in-situ keratomileusiss is a procedure for correcting farsightedness, nearsightedness and astigmatism. Astigmatism is caused by having different curvatures on the surface of the cornea. Almost every person has some form of astigmatism, because no one has a "perfect" cornea.  It is also known that people may actually develop astigmatism depending on there daily activities and if they strain a lot with their eyes. Common symptoms of eye strain are headaches, dizziness, fatigue, typically that worsens throughout the day. The cornea is normally supposed to look like a transparent sphere that covers the front of the eye. When individuals have significant astigmatism there cornea more resembles the shape of a football.   Custom LASIK surgery is designed to correct a person’s prescription, including nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Laser surgery actually reshapes the cornea to a more spherical shape, thereby maximizing the best vision
