There are several theories that exist that can cause cataracts including: smoking, diabetes, excessive exposure to sunlight, steroid use and certain other medications. The typical symptoms that may occur (blurry vision, glare around  lights at night, haloes, colors losing there contrast and increased nearsightedness.

North Shore Eye Care's Symposium for Continuing Education for Optometrists was a successful turnout. North Shore Eye Care is proud to announce that Dr. John Mauro has joined the practice as the newest member of its ophthalmic team to support its expansion and growing patient base. 

Dr. John Mauro is a Board-certified ophthalmologist who completed his fellowship training at Massachusetts Eye Research Surgery Institution in Cambridge and at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School
He is specialized in the treatment of ocular inflammatory diseases, cataract surgery, premium lens implant procedures and laser vision correction.  He obtained additional advanced training in bladeless, custom LASIK at the Boston Laser Eye Group. 

The board certified eye eye surgeons at North Shore Eye Care in Smithtown New York in Long Island have been perfecting the cataract surgery treatment since Dr. Sidney Martin, the founder of North Shore Eye Care, starting his practice in 1960.
