Custom View Lasik offers an individual analysis that is unique to each individual.  Using monochromatic light shined into the the eye, the reflected light rays are then interpreted by an aberrometer which offers 25 times more information than can be gleaned from an ordinary glass prescription.

Two new advances in lasik surgery have made this procedure more attractive to prospective patients.  The first being bladeless surgery.  Thanks to intralase technology lasik flaps can now be created by laser.  Secondly, due to customvue laser patients are truly amazed at the quality of their postoperative vision.

Due to increased interest in lasik and how it is performed, evening seminars will begin at North Shore Eye Care.  The seminars will cover all the aspects involving the latest technology incorporated with lasik surgery known as I-Lasik.  These seminars will be given by the board certified surgeons Dr. Lawrence Zweibel, Jeffrey Martin, and John Mauro. Some of the new technological improvements that will be discussed include the intralase laser which creates a bladeless flap, iris registration for accurate astigmatism correction, iris tracking to follow ocular movement during laser, and most importantly Custom-vue laser which gives individualized, precise visual correction.

At North Shore Eye Care in Smithtown new york in long island, we take care of patients of all ages.  When a patient decides to have bladeless custom lasik or ilasik over the age of 40, they have to be prepared to still use reading glasses unless monovision is used.   Monovision is the process of doing lasik on one eye for distance and one eye for close.  Many long island patients do not tolerate monovision that well and therefore, we are more inclined to do straight distance lasik and have our patients use magnifiers for near.
