On behalf of North Shore Eye Care we wish everyone a Merry Christmas

The Doctors and staff at North Shore Eye care hope everyone will have a wonderful Christmas Day.  We are grateful for the support and trust bestowed on us by our patients this year.  As the largest and most successful lasik center in Suffolk County our board certified ophthalmic surgeons, Dr. John Mauro, Dr. Jeff Martin, and Dr. Lawrence Zweibel are dedicated to offering are patients the very best in care.  To meet with this commitment we offer free Lifetime enhancements to all our patients.  While it is unusual to require an enhancement it can sometimes be desirable for those patients with unusually large prescriptions.  Because of small prescription changes that can occur over the years whether or not lasik is performed could be another reason to consider an enhancement.

Our enhancement rate however is quite low and this in large part because at North Shore Eye Care we perform I-Lasik which employs many novel innovations that have been applied to lasik surgery over the past decade.  This includes offering Custom Bladeless  Lasik wherein no blades touch your eye.  With Lasik two lasers are utilized.  The first known as a femptosecond laser named for the rapidity of this machine can create a superficial flap on the surface of your cornea in a matter of seconds.  These flaps are extremely precise lending towards an excellent visual result.  Corneal flaps are a tremendous boon when performing laser vision correction as they eliminate corneal scarring obviating the need for chemicals such as mitomycin.  By creating corneal flaps the surgeon can leave the overlying corneal epithelium undisturbed which results in an extremely rapid recovery with patients being able to drive and return to work the very next day.

Custom Lasik which is performed by the second laser, a Visx Star S4 CustomVue laser, utilizes wave front technology wherein a light wave reflected back from your eye is analyzed by an aberrometer.  When analyzed up to 25 time more information is utilized than would be available from an ordinary glass prescription to give you vision that usually surpasses that what you had with your glasses or contact lenses.

We welcome you to come to one of our monthly seminars.  Learn more about this wonderful technology and be free of your glasses and contact lenses.  At that time you'll get to see our new state of the art laser center.  As the Lasik surgeons for the New York Mets we look forward to seeing you.
