Riverhead opening tomorrow for North Shore Eye Care Tweet

Tommorrow marks the first day of the Riverhead expansion of North Shore Eye Care.  Our board certified eye doctors are so excited to bring the North Shore Eye Care brand to the east end of Long Island.  This means that suffolk county residents in Riverhead will have availability six days a week including Saturday.  Our highly technical eye care office will offer the latest in technology to insure that you get the proper diagnosis and treatment of all eye conditions.  Dr. Sonya Dhar, glaucoma specialist as well as Dr. Paul Choinski and Dr. Grace O'Malley will be the main eye doctors at the Riverhead location, but Dr. Jeffrey Martin, Dr. Sidney Martin, Dr. Larry Zweibel, Dr. John Mauro and even our board certified audiologist, Dr. Robyn Shapiro plans to be available in Riverhead.  Our Smithtown location, which was founded by Dr. Sidney Martin in 1960, continues to be the flagship location of North Shore Eye Care including our brand new LASIK center for laser vision correction.

At Riverhead, we will be taking care of patients with cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, eyelid problems, dry eye and of course we are the leaders in LASIK in Suffolk County New York.  Dr. Sonya Dhar is an excellent glaucoma specialist that has been trained in the latest knowledge and treatment for glaucoma.  Glaucoma is a problem that occurs when a patient has an intraocular pressure that is too high.  Sometimes that pressure is not over the normal level, but is still too high for that patient's optic nerve.  Glaucoma is dangerous because it is often painless so patients do not even know that they have a problem.  Slowly, peripheral vision begins to diminish and these changes are usually permanent.  The good thing about glaucoma is that it is almost always treatable with a combination of eye drops and sometimes laser or more conventional glaucoma surgery.  Dr. Dhar is now caring for all of the glaucoma of North Shore Eye Care in Smithtown and will assume that role in Riverhead as well.
