November 17, 2011 @ 10:48 AM — by unknown

In Smithtown and Riverhead Long Island New York, there is a great new LASIK center called Long Island LASIK Vision.  Long Island LASIK vision is a state of the art LASIK center right in Smithtown.  LASIK has been performed in Suffolk County for over 15 years and patients with nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.  In the beginning, all LASIK was performed with blade machines called microkeratomes, but today, the board certified eye doctors at North Shore eye care use all bladeless LASIK with Intralase, a blade-free laser that makes the thinnest and most precise flaps possible.  In LASIK, once a flap is made in the superficial layers of the cornea, the custom laser vision correction ablation is then used to correct your vision.  Customvue utilizes a wavescan that obtains a custom map of your visual system that is like your visual fingerprint.  The information is transferred digitally into the VISX Star S4 IR laser and the vision is then corrected.
