New LASIK Center in Smithtown New York

North Shore Eye Care, the leader in Long Island LASIK in Suffolk County is opening a new state-of-the-art LASIK Center in their Smithtown location.  This LASIK Center will be the newest and best LASIK Center in Long Island and will serve our Smithtown and Riverhead locations.  Our board certified LASIK surgeons, Dr. Jeffrey Martin, Dr. Larry Zweibel, and Dr. John Mauro have been performing their amazing iLASIK procedures at a local eye surgery center.  Ten years ago, the surgery center seemed like the best place to set up the suite.  Over the years, we have committed to the absolute best in laser eye surgery and this is why we only do bladeless and custom LASIK.  We use Intralase, a precise and safe laser, to make the flap, which is the first part of the LASIK procedure.  We then use Advanced Customvue with automatic tracking and centering and iris registration to complete the vision correction surgery.  This combination of lasers assures that our patients have the best shot at the great visual outcome desired.

What Goes Into Making a Perfect LASIK Center?

Seems like some sheet rock and lights and we would be ready to go.  The design of the center is incredibly important.  First we designed the center for the best flow and patient comfort.  We use the safest materials and operating room approved ceilings and floors to make sure that we ward off infection and inflammation.  We have a special environmental control unit that controls temperature and humidity 24 hours a day.  That is so important with lasers that perform laser vision correction.  It is imperative to keep the temperature and humidity constant so that results do not vary.  We accomplished this in our LASIK suite and are so happy and excited to get started.  Of course, we will use no blades or older procedures, only bladeless and custom.  We can easily correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism using a custom Wavemap that the laser measures from each patient's visual system.  The information is then transferred digitally from the Wavescan to the LASIK laser for treatment.  Keeping with this tradition of excellence has helped us to grow an amazing LASIK practice.  We are now the Official LASIK Provider of the New York Mets.
