The board certified LASIK experts at North Shore Eye Care in Smithtown and Riverhead in Long Island are using the best in technology and technique to provider every patient with the best chance at an excellent outcome.  We are all blade free and custom and we offer a lifetime c ommittment on our laser eye surgery procedure.  So what is the difference between custom and non custom LASIK?

Custom Vs. Non-Custom LASIK

Ou        Our  OuLaser vision correction reshapes the internal layers of the cornea so that the light coming through the cornea focuses precisely on the retina without the need for glasses or contact lenses.  In older technology LASIK, the eye doctor would use the numbers in your eyeglasses or contacts and program those numbers manually into the laser machine.  That means that every person was labelled with a number, for example - 1.00 or +2.00.  With Customvue LASIK, the laser makes a fingerprint of your unique visual system much like your fingerprint on your finger.  Every visual system is unique and the laser accounts for your unique irregularities to customize the laser eye surgery procedure to your eyes.  No two corrections are the same and that is the beautiful part about custom LASIK and that is why the results are so good.  When you use custom LASIK with bladeless flap technology, you have iLASIK.  With iLASIK, the flap as the first step in LASIK is created with a precise laser called Intralase.  Intralase is the safest and most precise way to make flaps in LASIK.  At North Shore Eye Care, 100 % of the flaps we make are blade-free.  As a matter of fact, we are so assured of our LASIK skills that we offer a lifetime commitment on the procedure.

North Shore Eye Care is the Official LASIK Provider of the New York Mets and the Official Eye Care Provider of the New York Islanders.  Our board certified LASIK experts have been included in Castle Connolly Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area for years as seen in Newsday, The New York Times and New York Magazine.  We are proud of our 15 years of experience and are opening a brand new LASIK facility in Smithtown in the upcoming months.  We are active in teaching resident ophthalmologists at the VA Medical Center in Northport and continually strive to improve our techniques and technology.  Our patients benefit from our commitment to eye care and eye surgery.
