With the large array of intraocular lens implants picking the right lens for you at the time of cataract surgery requires some thought.  To help you understand what is involved in the decision making North Shore Eye Care will be hosting it's summer symposium on cataract surgery as well as the vast array of lenses that you can pick from.  In the past we held our cataract symposiums first thing in the morning, an hour that may be difficult for people to attend.  Therefore we are scheduling this symposium at 3 P. M. and as usual refreshments will be served.

At the meeting we will be discussing three new types of lenses that have become available on the market.  The first  two types enable people to see both near and far without the need of glasses.  These are the accomodative lenses known as the crystalens and the multifocal type known as the restor and the tecnis multifocal.  For people with substantial astigmatism lenses dedicated to correctiing this problem are also available.

At the symposium we will also discuss just what a cataract is, how it forms, and the newest techniques for cataract removal.  The surgeons at North Shore Eye Care have experienced first hand the steady evolution of cataract surgery having first performed this surgery greater than 35 years ago, before surgical microscopes were used and before intraocular lenses were FDA approved for surgery.  With our vast experience we have been recognized in Castle Connelly's Top Doctors in the New York Metro area.  As team physicians for the New York Islanders and the Lasik surgeons for the New York Mets you can be sure you'll be in good hands.
