There are many choices to consider when having your cataracts removed
When having cataract surgery because of the many implant options available careful consideration should be made when planning your future surgery.
One of the added benefits of this procedure is that not only do you get rid of the clouding lens that is otherwise known as a cataract that obscures your vision, but you can gain considerable independence from glasses that most middle age people are dependent on. While most lenses available can give good distance vision without the need for glasses some people still have too much astigmatism to fully gain spectacle independence. For these people toric lenses designed to correct astigmatism can be used. These lenses are very effective and have gained considerable popularity.
For those who would like both distance and reading ability and still retain independence from wearing glasses they can consider having either accommadative lenses or multifocal lenses implanted. A third option would be to consider having one eye dedicated to good distance vision while the other would dominate for reading.
These decisions can be complicated. For this reason we recommend you attend one of our many cataract seminars or even better come in for a complete eye exam with one of our Board Certified cataract experts who will be able to not only be able to give you a one on one consultation but also be able to assess the health of your eyes.
