Cataract Surgery at North Shore Eye Care: A look back

Posted on Mar 08 2011 by John Mauro

When a cataract becomes visually significant, Dr. Jeffrey Martin, Dr. Lawrence Zweibel and Dr. John Mauro, all board certified eye surgeons, may recommend eye surgery. Cataract surgery today takes under 10 minutes in most cases and occurs without painful injections, stitches, or even an eye patch. Patients return to the comfort of their home the same day and patients rarely experience any pain or significant discomfort. Intraocular lens implant technology has improved dramatically over the last several years. There are different lenses available such as  multifocal lenses like Restor 3.0, Restor 4.0 and Tecnis Multifocal. These lenses reduce the need for glasses by a different but equally effective mechanism. We also enjoy reducing or eliminating astigmatism with the Alcon Acrysof Toric intraocular lens implant (IOL).
