Do I need surface ablation instead of lasik?

December 30, 2010 @ 03:39 PM — by unknown

Our eye doctors at North Shore eye care are careful to steer our patients into the best laser vision correction procedure for their unique eyes.  Many patients do well with bladeless custom lasik and about 70 % of our patients having laser vision correction do have lasik.  Our board certified lasik specialists are experts at determining who is right for each procedure.  In a complimentary consultation, our eye specialists will test your eyes with corneal topography and pachymetry to see your unique corneal shape and thickness.  We then use that information along with your myopic, hyperopic or astigmatic prescription to determine if you can have lasik or advanced surface ablation.  Generally, patients with thin corneas, irregular corneas, high prescriptions, dry eyes, or a few other considerations are better with PRK because the depth of cornea for the entire procedure is less.  With PRK, the healing time is longer and a bit more uncomfortable, but the final visual result is the same.

Come on in to our Smithtown New York location in suffolk county and see what there is to see without glasses or contact lenses.
