Lasik volume remains high at North Shore Eye Care

Posted on Sep 19 2010 by Lawrence Zweibel

Lasik volume remains high at North Shore Eye Care where laser refractive surgery has been performed for the past 14 years.  This volume has been driven by Lasik's proven safety and excellent results.  While patients with otherwise healthy eyes have been able to escape from wearing glasses for some time thanks to the use of contact lenses many find this modality unacceptable.  For instance, many people either can't wear contacts or don't want to be bothered with the daily care of these lenses that often require frequent visits to their eye care professional.  Even amongst those who do well with lenses they still run the risk of increasing infections as well as chronic inflammation that can lead to constant irritation and even dry eye syndrome.

The lasik experts at North Shore Eye Care are noted not only for their expertise but for the care given to all patients where the surgeon who performs your surgery is the same doctor who does all your preop and postop evaluations.  All surgeons are board certified ophthalmologists.  Dr. Zweibel is Director of Ophtalmology at St. Catherines hospital in Smithtown and Dr Jeff Martin is an assistant professor at Stony Brook University. They have recently been joined by Dr. John Mauro, a fellowship trained lasik surgeon.
