North Shore eye care, a leader in eye care in the new york metro area and long island, is offering free premium cataract surgery seminars at their smithtown office.  Our three board certified cataract surgeons are all involved in these informative sessions that involve questions and answer sections.  Our cataract surgeons discuss the innovation and steps of the cataract surgery procedure.  We review what patients should expect including staying in their own clothes.  Each patient receives IV sedation and numbing eye drops so that they are comfortable.  Cataract surgery is performed through a small incision using computer controlled ultrasound called phacoemulsification.  The cataract, a cloudy aging lens of the eye, is removed by breaking it into pieces and then removing the small pieces.  A new intraocular lens implant is then placed and remains in place for the remainder of your life.  There are several types of intraocular lens implants and we specialize in premium implants that allow patients to see far and near without glasses and contact lenses.  We use the Crystalens, Tecnis Multifocal, Restor and even use astigmatism correcting implants called toric implants.
