At North Shore eye care in smithtown new york in long island, our board certified cataract specialtists perform the latest in cataract surgery technique.  Our cataract surgeons perform cataract surgery through a microscopic incision using computer controlled ultrasound called phacoemulsification.  Our patients are able to remain in their own clothes and receive IV sedation for comfort.  We then use eye drops to numb the surface of the eye so that you feel no discomfort during surgery.  We do not use stitiches, an eye patch or needles around the eyes in most cases.  When patients have cataract surgery, they can choose a standard implant lens or a premium implant lens like Tecnis Multifocal, Crystalens, or a Toric implant that reduces or eliminates astigmatism.  These fancy implants are made so that patients are less dependent or independent of glasses and contact lenses at all distances from near to far.  There is an added cost with premium intraocular lens implants, but we offer zero percent financing for two years for those patients that desire to pay for the upgraded technology over time.
