First Cataract Seminar given at North Shore Eye Care

August 07, 2010 @ 09:20 AM — by John Mauro

North Shore eye care in long island is having its inaugural cataract surgery seminar in two weeks.  These cataract seminars will be free and refreshments will be served. During the course of our seminars, one of our board certified cataract surgeons will discuss the details of cataracts as well as cataract surgery and intraocular lenses.

Our eye physicians, Dr. Jeff Martin, Dr. Larry Zweibel, Dr Sidney Martin and Dr. John Mauro, will conduct  monthly seminars to afford  patients better education in their decision to have cataract surgery.  Cataract surgery is an outpatient procedure that is conducted under IV and the use of topical numbing eye drops and therefore do not use needles around the eyes, stitches, or even an eye patch following surgery.  Patients then have the opportunity to choose a standard IOL or upgrade to a premium implant that reduces or eliminates the need for glasses at all distances.  These implants are called Crystalens, Restor, and Tecnis Multifocal as well as the Toric lenses which treat astigmatism. Everyone is welcome to come.

In long island new york in suffolk and nassau counties, we see patients from smithtown, nesconset, saint james, kings park, centereach, selden, coram, middle island, riverhead, ridge, southampton, east hampton, sag harbor, hampton bays, and many towns including the five boroughs.
