Cataract surgery seminar at North Shore eye care
On August 16 at 8am, North Shore eye care is hosting their first cataract surgery seminar free of charge. In this cataract surgery seminar held at our Smithtown new york office in long island, one of our board certified cataract surgeons will give an overview of what a cataract is and how it is fixed. A cataract is a clouding of the natural crystalline lens of the eye. When the symptoms of cataract become severe enough to interfere with activities of daily living, our eye doctors consider cataract surgery. Cataract surgery is performed through a microscopic incision using fine instruments and computer controlled ultrasound called phacoemulsification. Once the cloudy defective lens is removed, we replace it with an intraocular lens implant or IOL. The purpose of this implant is to restore vision. Those patients that desire better vision at far and near without glasses can choose one of the premium implants that are designed to reduce glasses and far and near. These implants are either accommodating or multifocal and include Restor, Rezoom, Tecnis Multifocal, Crystalens and also the Acrysof Toric implant that reduces or eliminates astigmatism. Our patients return home the very same day and have little to no discomfort. There are no needles, stitches or even an eye patch used in most cases.
Come and learn more about cataract surgery at our free cataract seminar and we will be sure to answer all of your questions.
