Cataract Surgery at North Shore Eye Care with Premium IOL implants

Posted on Jul 08 2010 by John Mauro

In cataract surgery, a board certified cataract surgeon removes the defective or cloudy lens of the eye and replaced it with a custom sized intaocular lens. In performing cataract surgery its done through a small incision using only eye drops for anesthesia. An incision is done through a microscope and therefore there is rarlely a need to use stitches, an eye patch or needles around the eyes.  Cataract surgery takes a few minutes and our patients return home the very same day.

After the cataract is removed, Dr. Jeffrey Martin, Dr. Larry Zweibel or Dr. John Mauro implant an intraocular lens or IOL.  This implant is designed to restore vision.  We can use a standard implant or a premium implant depending on each patients visual needs.  There are accommodating and multifocal implants that increase range of vision and allow distance and close vision without glasses or contact lenses.  We also use astigmatism correcting implants called Toric implants. Every patient who gets a cataract evaluation spends time with one of our doctors and learns about all the types of implants that are available.

In long island new york in nassau and suffolk counties, we see patients from smithtown, nesconset, saint james, kings park, commack, northport, huntington, cold spring harbor, deer park, dix hills, melville, centerport, greenlawn, massapequa, lindenhurst, sayille, bay shore, babylon, plainview, woodbury, syosset, bethpage, garden city, rockville center, merrick, wantagh, roslyn, great neck, hicksville, levittown, east meadow, manhasset, glen cove, manhattan, new york city, brooklyn, bronx, queens, and other towns.
