Cataract surgery... how to choose an implant

July 07, 2010 @ 08:07 AM — by unknown

North Shore eye care in smithtown new york in long island is a leader in cataract surgery.  Our advanced cataract surgery allows many of our patients to see well without glasses or contact lenses for far and near.  With cataract surgery, our three board certified cataract experts perform the cataract surgery through a microscopic incision that does not require stitches, an eye patch or even needles around the eyes.  The cataract is performed with the use of IV sedation and numbing eye drops.

When the defective cataract is removed, we replace the lens with an intraocular lens implant or IOL.  The standard implant allows a patient to see far, but not near.  If a patient has astigmatism, the toric implant is necessary for excellent distance vision without glasses.  For those patients that want far and near vision without glasses, an accommodating or multifocal implant is necessary such as the Crystalens, Restor, Rezoom, or Tecnis multifocal.  North Shore eye care is a National Crystalens Center or Excellence and Dr. Jeff Martin and dr. Larry Zweibel are Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area.  Dr. John Mauro was awarded Patient Choice.

In long island new york in suffolk and nassau counties, we see patients from centereach, selden, coram, middle island ridge, riverhead, miller place, mt sinai, rocky point, shoreham, wading river, stony brook, setauket, port jefferson, patchogue, medford, brookhaven, bellport, bayport, yaphank, shirley, mastic, moriches, manorville, calverton, eastport, westhampton, east hampton, hampton bays, sag harbor, amagansett, montauk, jamesport, cutchogue, mattituck, southold, greenport, and many other towns.
