There is a lasik seminar tonight, June 22 at 7pm at North Shore eye care in smithtown new york in long island.  Dr. John Mauro, a board certified lasik specialist will be talking about the process of laser vision correction and will be giving an overview of the laser eye surgery procedure.  Our lasik surgeons have been having monthly lasik seminars that have been wonderful to help patients decide on laser vision correction.  We discuss the process from the free lasik consultation to the lasik surgery and the postoperative care.  We let our long island patients know that we do only the best in lasik... bladeless custom lasik or ilasik.

In ilasik, we make a flap in the superficial layers of the cornea using INtralase and then do Visx Customvue lasik using a fingerprint of each patient's unique vision called a wavemap.  This automatically centers and tracks and also uses iris registration for the very best result possible.  For those patients with thin corneas, irregular corneas, high prescriptions, or very dry eyes, sometimes lasek is a better option.  With lasek, the laser vision correction part of the procedure is the same, but it is done on the surface of the cornea.  This preserves cornea and although the healing is a bit longer, the final result is every bit as good.

In long island new york in suffolk and nassau counties, we see patients from smithtown, nesconset, saint james, kings park, fort salonga, huntington, commack, northport, deer park, cold spring harbor, dix hills, melville, centerport, greenlawn, bay shore, babylon, massapequa, lindenhurst, sayville, farmingdale, bethpage, plainview, syosset, woodbury, manhasset, roslyn, great neck, glen cove, rockville center, levittown, hicksville, new york city, manhattan, queens, bronx, brooklyn, staten island, new york city, and many other towns.
