Modern Cataract Surgery by the surgeons at North Shore Eye Care

Posted on Jun 06 2010 by Lawrence Zweibel

Modern cataract surgery performed by the surgeons at North Shore Eye Care is now safer with a speedier patient recovery than ever before.  With sutureless surgery performed through microincisions patients now often leave the operating room without even a patch.  In the mid 20th century 160 degree incisions were used to remove the cataractous lens within the eye.  Patients were then forced to lie immobilized for up to 2 weeks.   Now, cataracts can be emulsified within the eye with incision sizes of approximately 2 mm.  Remarkably intraocular lenses that replace the cataract can go through the same small incision.  All of this leads to very rapid recovery, both to vision and the ability to return to normal activities.

The surgeons at North Shore Eye Care are very experienced with all of the facets of cataract surgery using only the very latest equipment which makes for safer and reliable surgery and are also experienced with the very newest intraocular lenses used to replace your cataract.  Drs. Lawrrence Zweibel, Jeff Martin, and John Mauro are all Board Certified Surgeons.  Most important, however is the courteous treatment all patients in our office receive.

We treat patients from as far east as Southold and the Hamptons to Coram, Centereach, Mattituck, Riverhead, Manorville, Miller Place, Ridge, Coram, Shirley, MasticBeach, Patchogue, Holbrook, Smithtown, Stony Brook, Commack, Port Jefferson, Commack, Kings Park, Plainview, Syosset, Glen Cove,  Dix Hills, Huntington, and many other areas in Suffolk, Nassau, and even New York.
