LASIK surgery and what you need to know

May 24, 2010 @ 09:32 AM — by John Mauro

For many reasons people have looked for other options including laser vision correction, which first became available in this country almost two decades ago.  Most laser vision correction is performed as LASIK and in some cases known as PRK, LASEK, which is performed on the surface of the cornea.  Since the beginning, laser correction has had many advances in providing excellent vision, including the intralase method which has replaced a mechanical  blade to create the corneal flap, iris registration which allows tracking to follow eye movement and to follow rotation of the eye, which is important for precise correction of astigmatism, and customvue which uses advanced telescope technology to determine each eye's individual prescription.

In long island new york in suffolk and nassau counties, we see patients from smithtown, nesconset, saint james, kings park, fort salonga, commack, northport, huntington, cold spring harbor, deer park, dix hills, wantagh, sayville, garden city, glen cove, manhasset, east meadow, hicksville, hempstead, levittown, roslyn, great neck, new york city, manhattan, queens, bronx, brooklyn, mineola, and many other towns.
