Why this is such a good time to consider lasik

Everyone would like to have the best and most natural vision they could have.  That's why contact lenses  have become so popular.  However, the early contacts lenses that first became available were rigid.  Many people were forced to abandon these lenses due to discomfort and difficulty with removing them from the eye.  For these reasons when soft contacts became available in the late 1960's they were immediately embraced for their greater comfort and ease of removal.  However with many people even these lenses fall short because of increased allergy, infection, difficulty with handling for some people, and maintenance issues.

For the above reasons many people have looked for another option and laser vision correction, which first became available in this country in the 1990's, has been the answer.  Most laser vision correction is performed as lasik, or laser correction under a thin corneal flap.  But in some cases it is performed on the surface on the surface of the cornea, known as PRK, lasek , or epilasik.  Since its inception laser correction has had many advances resulting in extremely good vision.  These advances known as I-lasik include the intralase which has replaced metal blades to create the corneal flap, iris tracking to follow eye movements, iris registration to follow torsional rotation which is important for precise correction of astigmatism, and custom vue which uses space age technology to determine each eye's individual correction.

The eye experts at North Shore Eye Care who are recognized in Castle Connelly's "Top Doctors"  are all Board Certified.  We have been performing lasik since the 1990's and only use the latest technology for all our patients.  Additionally all preop and post op visits are performed by the operation surgeon.
