At North Shore eye care, we perform cataract surgery through a small incision.  We do not routinely use stitches, an eye patch or needles around the eyes.  Our patients stay in their own comfortable clothes and receive IV sedation to relax.  Cataract surgery takes place over about ten minutes and patients return home the very same day.  There is little to no discomfort and patients are able to see right away.  Many of our patients choose advanced technology implant lenses to replace their cataracts.  These special implant lenses are able to give a patient near and far vision without the use of glasses or contact lenses.  These lenses are either accommodating or multifocal implants including restor, rezoom, tecnis multifocal and crystalens.  We also use toric implants to reduce or eliminate astigmatism.
