At North Shore Eye Care we perform over a thousand cataract operations each year using the most advanced techniques. Dr. Martin, Dr. Zweibel and Dr Mauro rarely use stitches, periocular needle injections or even eye patches. All of our doctors are board certified and North Shore Eye Care has been named a Crystalens Cataract Surgery Center of Excellence by Bausch and Lomb. These awards reinforce the committment to excellence at this eye care practice by these eye surgeons.
In cataract surgery, the cataract or cloudy lens of the eye is removed through a small incision using gentle ultrasound called phacoemulsification and the cloudy lens is replaced with an intraocular lens implant or IOL. The eye doctors at North Shore Eye Care use accommodating implants such as: crystalens, tecnis multifocal, the restor and the rezoom. All of these premium lenses give patients better far and near vision without the use of glasses and contact lenses. We also use the Acrysof Toric implant to reduce or eliminate astigmatism. All of our doctors enjoy using these improved implants because it allows our patients more freedom and range of their vision. Our patients can also benefit from zero percent financing for two years using Care Credit.
All of our physicians (Drs Sidney Martin, Larry Zweibel, Jeff Martin and John Mauro) at North Shore Eye Care are board certified from the American Board of Ophthalmology. We serve patients throughout Long Island, from the most Eastern areas of the Hamptons including Riverhead to the middle of the Island including Stony Brook, Smithtown, Huntington, Babylon, Melville, Cold Spring Harbor, Kings Park to the westernmost areas of the isand such as Port Washington, Manhassat, Roslyn, Lawrence, Merrick, Wantagh, Hewett, Long Beach and still further west into New York City including the five boroughs.
