Basics of LASIK

Many people ask us what LASIK is all about. LASIK (laser assisted in-situ keratomileusis) surgery is an operation that is performed to correct a person’s prescription whether their nearsightedness (myopia), farsighted (hyperopia) or astigmatism. A person’s prescription is mostly dictated by the size, shape and structure of the eye. The cornea is the clear or translucent part of the eye that sits in front of the iris (colored part of the eye.) It is the cornea that allows light to refracts or bend, subsequently focusing it on the back of the eye which is called the retina.  What actually happens in LASIK surgery is that the cornea is reshaped by a laser and your custom prescription is embedded on to your eye. Your prescription is measured by a sophisticated laser that scans your cornea, almost like a fingerprint scan, unique to each person.

We also do all custom customvue lasik with wavescan waveprint mapping for the most accurate result. Bladeless custom lasik along with personalized care makes the recipe for a successful outcome.
