Diabetes is a leading killer in the United States and is reaching epidemic proportions.  This is largely due to our increasingly aging population, but other factors are significant such as obesity and sedentary life styles.  More and more of us are in a rush  to get our meals down.  This,  combined with the relative inexpense of fast food restaurants has led to their popularity, which are well known for their highly caloric meals, especially when supersized.  Large screen TV's, fast computers, and high tech computer games  are major contributors to our lack of exercise.
