When it comes to the vision correction part of lasik, we do ilasik today which includes custom lasik with automatic centering, automatic tracking and iris registration.  In the beginning, our board certified eye surgeons would manually input the numbers of your prescription into the laser and that was placed on the eye.  In this way, everyone with the same prescription received the exact same correction.  As we know, everyone's visual system is unique like their fingerprint.  With the advent of Customvue, the Wavescan reads each patient's eyes and creates a custom wavemap or waveprint.   This custom pattern is unique for each patient and has improved the results of lasik dramatically.  At North Shore eye care, we do all bladeless custom lasik.
