lasik surgery recovery... ask the lasik experts at North Shore Eye Care in Smithtown New York in Long Island

Lasik surgery has emerged as one of the most common elective eye surgical procedures done today.  At North Shore Eye Care in Smithtown New York in Long Island, our board certified lasik surgeons and lasik doctors have been very successful with lasik laser eye surgery mainly because of their vast experience, but also because they use only the very best technology and technique.  Our board certified eye doctors and eye surgeons do all blade free lasik and all custom lasik.  In lasik, a thin flap is made in the superficial layers of the cornea.  This flap is only made with Intralase in our Suffolk County Long Island practice.  Intralase is a laser that makes the safest and most accurate flap possible.  We then use Customvue which is a way that the Visx laser takes a wavemap or waveprint of your visual system that allows Dr. Jeff Martin, Dr. Larry Zweibel and Dr. John Mauro to correct your vision in a custom way.  This custom laser vision correction automatically centers, automatically tracks and uses iris registration to exactly place the laser eye surgery correction.

The recovery from lasik is quite simple in most cases.  Our patients are able to drive, work, and return to normal activities the very next day.  For those patients that need advanced surface ablation such as PRK, lasek, or epilasik, the recovery takes a few days.  Lasik patients are always pleased that the recovery is so easy.  After the laser eye surgery procedure, we have our patients keep their eyes closed for a few hours after lasik.  There is some mild burning and tearing which usually ends in about three hours.  We have our lasik patients use eye drops for about a week and that is about it.

In Long Island New York in Suffolk and Nassau Counties, we see patients from Smithtown, nesconset, saint james, kings park, hauppauge, lake grove, islip, islandia, holbrook, holtsville,  bohemia, ronkonkoma, sayville, commack, stony brook, setauket, port jefferson, and many other towns such as farmingville and farmingdale.
