No stitch cataract surgery at North shore Eye Care in Smithtown Long Island new York
Cataract surgery is performed through a small incision, roughly 2.5 millimeters, and that is why stitches are not needed. Our patients stay in their own comfortable clothes, receive IV sedation to relax. The patient looks at a bright white light and does not feel any discomfort in most cases. The cataract surgery is done quickly and carefully and due to the small incision size, it seals without stitches. Because of that, our patients do not need to wear an eye patch and are able to see right away and start taking their important eye drops for infection and inflammation right away.
At North Shore eye, our board certified eye doctors and eye surgeons, use the latest technology in intraocular lens implants including accommodating implants like the crystalens which is designed to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses. As a matter of fact, we are a National Crystalens Center of Excellence. We also use multifocal implants at times like the restor, rezoom, and tecnis multifocal as well as the acrysof toric lens to reduce or eliminate astigmatism.
