Crystalens cataract surgery center of excellence....North Shore Eye Care in Smithtown New York
In cataract surgery, Dr. Martin or Dr. Zweibel make a small incision and remove the cloudy lens of the eye or cataract using gentle computer controlled ultrasound called phacoemulsification. Our patients stay in their own clothes and we rarely use stitches, perioperative injections, or eye patches. The cataract is then replaced with an intraocular lens implant or IOL. We use several IOLs including an aspheric distance lens that allows for great distance vision but patients will need reading glasses. We also use the Crystalens 5.0 and the Crystalens HD which are accommodating implants that allow for far and near vision. North Shore Eye Care has been named a Crystalens Cataract Surgery Center of Excellence. We also use multifocal lenses such as the Tecnis Multifocal, the ReZoom, the Restor 3.0 and the Restor 4.0 as well as the Acrysof Toric implants that reduces or eliminates astigmatism. Our patients have been thrilled with the new options in cataract surgery and the less dependence on glasses and contact lenses.
